Twelve Tribes Exhibition / Marc Chagall

The series of prints displayed here is based on the twelve stained-glass windows depicting the blessings of Jacob to his sons in Genesis 49

Marc Chagall- one of the most important Jewish artists of the 20th century, is known for his paintings that integrate fantasy and dreams.

The series of prints displayed here is based on the twelve stained-glass windows depicting the blessings of Jacob to his sons in Genesis 49.

Chagall visited Israel on several occasions (first in 1931). In 1977 he was granted the title of Yakir Yerushalyaim (Worthy Citizen of Jerusalem).

The signed prints you see were donated by Chagall to the ICC Jerusalem.

Above the staircase, in the Agam lobby, there is a relief of the ‘Judgement of Solomon’, also by Chagall.
